Classroom Setup: We arranged the tables in this classroom into a giant U. We did this to optimize our ability to walk in and check-in with students. Throughout the classroom, we had visual supports hanging on the walls such as posters describing line, a poster for our vocabulary words, miscellaneous superhero posters, and superhero masks.

PROFESSIONALISM, ADVOCACY & LEADERSHIP: PAL 1
IPTS (2013) STANDARD 9 - Professionalism, Leadership, and Advocacy - The competent teacher is an ethical and reflective practitioner who exhibits professionalism; provides leadership in the learning community; and advocates for students, parents or guardians, and the profession.

Description: In my free time this past month, I read the book "Educated", by Tara Westover. This book is a memoir reflecting on the life of the author, growing up in rural Idaho and being kept out of school, not receiving a formal education until she was 17 years old. Westover now has earned her PhD and living in England.

Rationale: I truly believe everyone should read this book. The author places a significant perspective on family dynamics, social and political outlooks, and what it took for her to get an education and walk away from it all. The entire read is inspirational and heart-tugging.

Evidence:

Description: This documentary showed the life of animator, Floyd Norman. Norman was one of the first Animators hired by Disney and was the first African American animator hired by the company. The documentary goes on to show document the rest of his success and career as an artist.

Rationale: This fall, while researching for our Pinterest Board project, I went down a rabbit hole of researching the first animators of Disney. I was fascinated by the process of how these first animators created these stories and just how they were able to create these projects in the 50's and 60's.
